“Nenagh Town Park is located on a bend in the Nenagh River, with a dry riverbed bounding the south of the site
along the rail-line, which takes overflow water during flood events. The Park is accessed by a bridge over the Nenagh
River, which endows the park with a magical sense of arrival on an island.
The playground design for Nenagh Town Park concept was derived from the dry riverbed and the rail-line,
and created with gentle grassed mounds, lots of planting and natural wooden play equipment. As we felt it was
important to extend play across the Park and not just fence it within the formal playground, we located a number of
wooden play pieces by Richter Spielgerate outside the playground, to invite everyone using the park to play, and to
create a ‘Play Route’ through the Park.
